Fashion house CrossRoads opened its first flagship outlet in Lahore at the trendy Blvd in Gulberg last Sunday. The modest launch ceremony was accompanied by a fashion show which unveiled the summer 2007 line, titled Glam Summer ’07. The consisted of cool summer outfits for both the sexes, combining comfort with style. The 25-minute floorshow kicked off with black-and-white striped casual tops with ‘Glam’ blazoned across, complimented by body hugging blue jeans, and culminated with colourful and crispier outfits.

The 10 female models also walked the ramp in fancy tops, elegant metallic hand and shoulder bags in addition to bold and chunky jewellery; reflected the casual mood of the outfits.

Incorporating knitwear and white crisp cottons with floral prints, the semi-formal and formal line was embellished with filigree laces, one of summer’s hottest rages, in addition to beads, studs and sequins that lent glint to the black, red, blue and beige tops.

The male models sported straight cotton trousers and funky sweat shirts and front-open lapel shirts. The summer collection was designed by Amar and inspired as a fusion of the funk of the ’80s and the glamour of contemporary fashion. “The synthesis of the two brought up an array of funky and glamourous clothing and accessories that are meant for the conventional and the contemporary,” observed the designer.

The store is a spacious, well-designed facility, offering ample stocks. Glittery sashes and scarves were displayed with the tops in such a manner that they toned in quite vibrantly with them, hence accentuating the floral prints. The guests took to the store after the show and expressed mixed opinions as regards the quality of the material and the durability of colours. Some of them expressed joy at being able to buy quality material and designs locally. Finally, a bit of advice: The next time female models are required to roll up their jeans on the ramp, they should ensure that their legs are properly waxed.
